The Austin Diary
This Austin post is way overdue seeing as it was one of my favorite travel spots of all time. We went in December of last year, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was amazingly warm and such a reprieve from the Ohio chill I was coming from. The mood was low-key; hipster but not overdone, artistic but not haughty and above all unique. Here's some of my favorite finds from that trip!
I found this place online and was thankful I did. The food was SO freakin delicious! I highly recommend the cauliflower, soft egg toast and the plancha burger. When traveling I usually pick one night to dress up and this was the spot, I would suggest making a reservation since it's a fairly small space. Nom!
Cute decor, cute lunch date, good service and great risotto. I loved the interior of this restaurant. The tile floors and farm table setup drew me in, which was easy to see thanks to the large windows that provide some amazing lighting. It was the perfect rest from our wanderings up and down Congress. Close to the South Congress Hotel and nestled in such a pretty area!
Are you a fan of food trucks? How about breakfast? Either one and you'll have to check out Paperboy. It's not on the main drag, which made me feel like I had discovered something tucked away. Being a huge fan of both food trucks and breakfast it was a no brainer for me. The breakfast sandwich blew my mind!
It would be remiss of me not to mention the amazing hotel we stayed at. Hotel San Jose was truly a secret garden located in the heart of Congress. I couldn't believe how secluded it was, while still being just a few steps away from the action. For me, choosing the hotel is half the fun of planning a vacation so I research options endlessly. This was one of my all time favorite hotels, better than I even imagined it would be. Naturally I ordered breakfast in bed!
I'd love to hear from you guys! Have you ever been to Austin? What were your favorite spots? Any recommendations for my next trip? xo, Stacey
